City Zip Debutante Flies Home to Score at Laurel

City Zip | Lane's End

7th-LRL, $40,000, Msw, 9-25, 2yo, f, 5 1/2fT, 1:02.80, fm.
+FULL OF ZIP (f, 2, City Zip–Sweet Eloise {SP, $104,843}, by Sky Classic) took all of the play for this debut and ran to the money with a good-looking score sprinting over the Laurel turf. Coming in off of a bullet :49 flat half-mile Sept. 22 on the Fair Hill training track, the chestnut was bet hard throughout and settled as the 7-5 choice by post. Away in midpack, Full of Zip dropped out third-last as a longshot blitzed through a :21.92 quarter. Still with a dozen lengths to make up passing the three-eighths pole, the homebred was sharply angled out twice in midstretch and flew home in the final sixteenth to win going away by 1 1/2 lengths in a promising unveiling. Discreet Deceit (Discreetly Mine) won a photo for place. The victress is the last foal from her stakes-placed dam, who died in 2015, and is a half to Don Dulce (Maria's Mon), SW, $646,530; Sweet Relish (Smoke Glacken), GSP, $196,630; and Wherethewestbegins (Gone West), GSP, $179,796. Second dam Ms. Eloise (Nasty and Bold) was a MGISW who produced GSW Bibury Court (Ferdinand). She also is a half-sister to GSP Belle Nuit (Dr. Carter), the dam of MGISW Octave (Unbridled's Song) and MGSW Belle Cherie (Belong to Me). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $22,800.
