The New York-bred took some time to get his feet underneath him after an incident-free break and was urged along to be a close third entering the turn. Driven into the lead fully three furlongs from the wire, he opened a clear advantage into the abbreviated stretch run and managed to cling on to score by a nose at odds of 14-1. Skinflint (Super Saver), drawn on the rail for his debut, closed well and nearly got the job done in the final jump.
