Competitive Edge, Mr. Jordan Square off in Return

A pair of “TDN Rising Stars,” Competitive Edge (Super Saver) and Mr. Jordan (Kantharos), will square off in their return to the races Friday in Gulfstream Park's Tamarac S.

Nancy Favreau, Kathy Psoinos and Michael Tabor's Competitive Edge, a 10 1/4-length debut winner at Saratoga last July, has been off since winning the GI Hopeful S. in his second start. The Todd Pletcher trainee suffered a hairline fracture to his left foreleg in September.

David Melin, Leon Ellman and Laurie Plesa's Mr. Jordan, unbeaten in three starts, won last term's Juvenile Sprint S. and Smooth Air S. before being sidelined. “He's going excellent, his last couple works have been excellent,” said trainer Eddie Plesa, Jr. “I'm anxious to get him back.”

The seven-furlong Tamarac S. drew a field of six. Mr. Jordan drew the rail and Competitive Edge will break from post four. It is carded as Gulfstream's second race, with a post time of 1:30 p.m.
