Ken Condon has some nice juveniles this season and one of these 2-year-olds Romanised (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) will bid to give the Curragh trainer his first Royal Ascot winner next month. A debut winner at Navan Apr. 24 in the colours of Hong Kong based Robert Ng, Romanised bypassed a potential outing at the Curragh last weekend and is likely to aim for the G2 Coventry S. on the opening day June 20. “He just had a little setback after Navan and the race last Saturday was coming up a bit quick for him. He's done very well since Navan physically and the plan now is to go straight to Royal Ascot. He'll get entries in both the Coventry Stakes and the Norfolk, but it will more than likely be the Coventry,” Condon said. The trainer went close to a Royal Ascot win when Newsletter (GB) (Sir Percy {GB}) was beaten three quarters of a length into third in the G2 Queen Mary S. in 2014 while he sent In Salutem (GB) (Sakhee's Secret {GB}) over to win at the course on Shergar Cup day last year and Condon is confidant Romanised has what it takes to be competitive in what is usually a high class contest. “I think the maiden he won will work out to be very good. There was a lot of chat beforehand and the third has won well since. We think a fair bit of our horse. Ever since he started doing fast work, he's always shown a nice bit of ability. He's a talented colt and one to look forward to.”
