Conquest Enforcer began his career with a fourth-place effort over the Woodbine turf in the GII Summer S. last September before concluding his two-race juvenile campaign with a romping 6 3/4-length victory in the Oct. 11 Cup and Saucer S. He went wire-to-wire for a 7 3/4-length triumph over the all-weather surface in the May 21 Queenston S. Taking all the play at 1-2 for this return to grass, the bay was pushed to the fore by Patrick Husbands from his rail draw, leading a half-length to the good through a :23.40 quarter-mile. Inching clear passing a :46.54 half, the bay colt was still under a hand ride when challenged earnestly by 50-1 Springhouse in midstretch. Shaken up inside the furlong grounds, Conquest Enforcer held determinedly to best that longshot while stablemate Conquest Daddyo flew late to just miss second.
“When we left the gate no one wanted the lead so I had to take advantage of it,” explained Husbands. “I am supposed to be riding the best horse in the race so I just let him enjoy himself.”
Trainer Mark Casse bypassed more ambitious spots for his talented charge in favor of longer-term goals on the turf. “We think this horse is a really good horse,” Casse said. “When Patrick hit him, I think he surprised him and he pulled himself up a little today, but he ran good.”
Conquest Enforcer, a Fasig-Tipton July graduate, is a half-brother to Conquest Vivi (Court Vision), who these same connections purchased for $112,710 at last year's Canadian September yearling sale. That filly recently captured the Nandi S. Keen Victory produced a half-sister by Successful Appeal to the two Conquest colorbearers in 2015 and a colt by First Samurai this spring.
