A weanling filly by Conveyance led the way during the 11th session of Keeneland November Friday, selling to Joel Zawitz for $50,000. Consigned by Buck Pond Farm, Hip 3695 is out of the Successful Appeal mare Appealing Diva, a half-sister to GSW Rocket Twentyone (Indian Charlie).
The 4-year-old mare Renown (Street Cry {Ire}), in foal to Morning Line, was the day's top broodmare on a $45,000 bid from Grand Oaks. Consigned by Lane's End as Hip 3852, the chestnut is a half-sister to stakes winners Outplay (Bernardini), Raconteur (A.P. Indy) and Katerbug (Pulpit). This is also the family of Grade I winners Clear Mandate and Strong Mandate.
Friday's session saw 112 horses sell for $714,000, which was a decrease from last year when 211 horses grossed $1,976,200. The session average was down 31.93% from 9,366 last term to 6,375 this year and median also decreased from $5,000 in 2016 to $3,500.
Cumulatively, Keeneland has sold 2,309 horses through 11 sessions for $201,334,600 compared to 2016 when 2,382 head brought $213,684,200. The average dipped slightly from $89,708 last term to $87,196, but median rose from $32,000 in 2016 to $35,000 this year.
