Officials at Coolmore Stud in the Hunter Valley, NSW, have announced their 2016 stallion roster. There are three new additions to the list for the upcoming breeding season, the most prominent of which is Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro {USA}), the 2015 G1 Golden Slipper S. winner who is now training towards a European campaign with Aidan O'Brien. Also new to the roster for 2016 is Pride of Dubai (Street Cry {Ire}), who completed the G1 Blue Diamond S./G1 Sires' Produce S. double and the fleet No Nay Never (USA) (Scat Daddy {USA}). Returning to the Australian arm of the operation is Starspangledbanner (Choisir), who stood the last three southern hemisphere seasons at Rosemont Stud in Victoria where he was also foaled and raised.
“We've got three very exciting new horses for the coming season,” explained Coolmore's Tom Magnier. “Pride of Dubai is already here on the farm and looks a million dollars, while Vancouver is thrilling Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle. We're really looking forward to see him running–most likely at Royal Ascot– before he returns here for the breeding season.
Magnier added, “Wesley Ward has trained some very fast horses but none faster than Scat Daddy's son No Nay Never who smashed the 1000m course record for a two-year-old at Royal Ascot. His first foals in Europe look like they'll be fast too. We are obviously over the moon with the start So You Think has made at stud. We were always very confident about his prospects but didn't expect it would happen quite this early. There is great anticipation ahead of Pierro's first 2-year-old runners next season; they really look the part.”
