Criquette Tops Doncaster January Day 2

Criquette in the ring | Goffs UK

The point-to-point mare Criquette (Fr) (Crillon {Fr}) (lot 269) topped the second and final day of the Goffs UK Doncaster January Sale on Tuesday. Offered by James Doyle's Baltimore Stables, the 5-year-old won a Borris House point-to-point in December and hammered for £52,000 to Jerry McGrath and Stewart Blackenbury.

Second in Tuesday's proceedings was the 5-year-old mare I Am Gonna Be (Ire) (Barely A Moment {Aus}), who went for £37,000 to Mark Dunphy and Derek O'Connor. The Maike Magnussen-consigned pointer has placed in two of her last three starts and was lot 278.

Overall, 50 lots (86%) sold on Tuesday for a gross of £392,700. The average was £7,854 and the median was £7,000. The two-day sale's aggregate was £1,812,800 for 176 (70%) sold from 253 offered. The two-day average came in at £10,300 and the median was £7,000.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent said, “It has been a very satisfactory start to the 2022 sale calendar–we had to cancel this sale at Doncaster last year and offer the foals as part of the Doncaster August Sale so it's great to be back. The number of NH foals catalogued for yesterday's opening day was the highest in recent years so we would like to extend a big thank you to the vendors who supported the sale and made yesterday in particular a success.”
