Crystalle Takes Next Step in Miss Grillo

Crystalle (Palace Malice) made amends for a DQ in her debut with a victory in the P.G. Johnson S. Aug. 29 and looks to take the next step Sunday in Belmont's GIII Miss Grillo S. Crossing the line 2 1/4 lengths clear in her two-turn unveiling on the Saratoga lawn Aug. 4, the John Kimmel trainee was disqualified that day for interference, but rallied to win that venue's P.G. Johnson S. next out. That race's third-place finisher English Breeze (English Channel) also returns here.

Barry Schwartz's Sparkling Sky (More Than Ready) crossed the line, but was promoted to second in tht Aug. 4 Spa maiden and came back to graduate over that course and distance Sept. 1.

Chad Brown has won six of the last seven renewals of this race and he saddles two in this year's edition. Jazzique (Ire) (Kingman {GB}) bested her stablemate Selflessly (More Than Ready) by a half-length in their mutual debut going 5 1/2 panels on the Saratoga lawn Aug. 28 and they both return here.

Larry Goichman's My Sassy Sarah (Summer Front) donned cap and gown by 4 1/4 lengths against fellow Empire-breds at second asking sprinting at Belmont Sept. 13. Her trainer Michalle Nevin also saddles Ava K's Girl (Giant's Causeway), who won by a neck when unveiled in a turf sprint at the Spa Aug. 23.
