+TEJANA (f, 3, Curlin">Curlin–Tia, by Giant's Causeway) was bet down to 5-2 for this debut off of several sharp Fair Hill breezes, punctuated by a bullet four furlongs from the gate May 10 in :48. Away in good order under Edgar Prado, the chestnut homebred was fastest early, taking over from 2-1 favorite Tizsomethingroyal (Tizway) and clicking off a moderate quarter in :23.43. Pressed by Bawlmer Hon (Silver Train) through a :47.28 half, she began to edge away from her pace foe on the latter part of the turn and opened up past the three-sixteenths marker. Staying clear in the stretch, Tejana bounded home impressively to score by 4 1/2 lengths over the chalk. The winner's dam is a full-sister to Chief Havoc, GSW, $218,478 who has a yearling filly by Kitten's Joy and a weanling full-sister to the winner. Her second dam is MGSW La Reina (A.P. Indy), a half-sister to GISW Brahms. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $22,800. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
