Curlin Filly Lights Up the Tote at KEESEP

One day after a Lane's End-consigned son of their young sire Quality Road fetched a whopping $710,000 to top the sixth overall session and first of two days of Book 3 bidding at the Keeneland September sale, a Curlin filly from the same draft smashed right through that level and was hammered down for $975,000 Monday in Lexington. The daughter of the stakes-winning Poteen mare Epitome of a Lady was bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings in partnership with Nicholas M. Lotz and was purchased by Vern Dickman of Dickman Legacy Ranch seated next to John Brocklebank. The duo confirmed that the chestnut, from the family of Barbara Banke's GISW Hot Dixie Chick (Dixie Union), would be offered at a 2-year-old sale in 2016. Bramble Brush Farm purchased the dam of hip 2061 for $2,500 when offered not in foal at Keeneland January in 2012.
