+CURLIN'S APPROVAL (f, 3, Curlin">Curlin–Withmom'sapproval, by With Approval) was bet down to 6-5 favoritism for this unveiling off a sharp string of local works, including a best-of-21 bullet four furlongs from the gate May 13 in :47 1/5. Away in fourth, the dark bay filly traveled about five lengths off the lead through a :22.39 quarter-mile, then made a big, sudden move at the head of the turn under Emisael Jaramillo to rocket past the leaders in a handful of strides and open a clear lead at the top of the lane. Challenged some to her inside by Dixieland Dudes (First Dude) in early stretch, she turned back that one's bid at the furlong grounds and came home comfortably to score by four lengths. The winner is a homebred half-sister to 5-year-old 'TDN Rising Star' Apologynotaccepted (Fusaichi Pegasus), who was profiled, along with owner Happy Alter, in the TDN.
