Curragh Announces Derby Initiative

The Curragh, in conjunction with race sponsor Dubai Duty Free, will refund entry and forfeit fees for the winners–and in some cases placed horses–of key lead-up races to the 150th G1 Irish Derby June 27. The initiative is designed to attract the best possible field for the Classic. The refunds are only payable if the horse runs in the Irish Derby. The incentive applies to the first through fourth of the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas, G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G1 Epsom Derby, as well as the winners of the G3 Gallinule S., Listed Nijinsky S., G1 Epsom Oaks, Silver S., G1 Prix de Diane, G3 Tercentenary S. and G2 King Edward VII S.

Paul Hensey, Curragh Racecourse General Manager, said, “We have identified the key races which should generate runners for this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and we hope that this exciting one-off initiative for the 2015 renewal will maximize the potential for us to encourage owners and trainers to be part of this very historic year for Ireland’s greatest horse race.”
