Curvy 'Improving' For Irish Oaks

Trainer David Wachman says his G2 Ribblesdale S. winner Curvy (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) is “improving all the time,” and the 3-year-old–who is riding a four-race win streak–is set for another class jump in the July 18 G1 Irish Oaks.

The John Magnier colorbearer opened her season with a pair of handicap scores at Navan before besting Giovanni Canaletto (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in The Curragh's G3 Gallinule S. May 24. She successfully moved up to the next grade when besting G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Pleascach (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot June 18.

“Curvy is in good shape,” Wachman said. “We're happy with her and she has come back from Ascot in good form. She's improving all the time, but she needs to improve again to win a Group 1.”

Wachman said his charge has the right attributes to be competitive at the highest level.

“She has a good pedigree and has the physique, as well as the size and strength,” he noted. “She was a bit weak as a 2-year-old, but she has kept stepping forward. They all level off at some point, but hopefully she hasn't yet.”
