Japanese star mare Daiwa Scarlet (Jpn) (Agnes Tachyon–Scarlet Bouquet {Jpn}, by Northern Taste) has been retired from racing after sustaining a leg injury over the weekend, according to the Japan Racing Association. The five-year-old had been expected to contest Sunday's G1 February S., her first test on dirt, in anticipation of a tilt at the G1 Dubai World Cup in March. Daiwa Scarlet was named Japan's champion three-year-old filly in 2007 after winning that year's G1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) and G1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup. She defeated males while winning last year's G1 Arima Kinen. On the board in all 12 of her lifetime starts, Daiwa Scaret retires with eight victories and earnings of $7,390,071.
