Playa Maya (Arch), the dam of GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile hero and likely Eclipse champion Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie), was hammered down to M.V. Magnier for $1.65 million at FTKNOV Sunday night. In foal to Broken Vow, she was consigned by Craig and Holly Bandoroff's Denali Stud for Respite Farm. Dr. Michael Cavey's Respite operation bred Playa Maya, and led her home unsold at $45,000 after the 2001 KEESEP sale. A Fair Grounds allowance winner with three wins from six career starts and earnings of $81,921, the dark bay has outdone herself in the breeding shed. Her first foal, a Forest Wildcat colt, was a $55,000 KEESEP yearling; her second, a Silver Deputy filly, brought $170,000 at the same venue; and her third was Uncle Mo, who brought his breeders $160,000 as a KEENOV weanling.
