DANILOVNA (IRE) (f, 3, Dansili {GB}–Hoity Toity {GB}, by Darshaan {GB}) showed an impressive turn of foot to score a promising victory in her United States debut at Belmont. A winner on debut over the Lingfield synthetic last November, the homebred was then fifth at 9-10 over the Sandown Park turf May 19 and disappointed again as the favorite July 15 at Newmarket. Switched from the David Lanigan barn after and treated with Lasix for the first time here, Danilovna was off two lengths last at 59-10 before moving up one spot to run sixth down the backside. Tipping four deep midway on the turn, the big dark bay exploded past rivals once clear to take the lead past the three-sixteenths pole in only a handful of strides. Facing a resurgent bid from favored Penjade (Fr) (Air Chief Marshal {Ire}) to her inside, Danilovna kept to her task under mild handling to score by a long neck. The winner was the second good-looking sophomore filly import to score at Belmont in the past week for this barn, following up Quidura (GB) (Dubawi {Ire})'s victory Sunday, an effort that earned a 92 Beyer Speed Figure. The winner is a half to Lillie Langtry (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), Hwt. 3yo filly on Eng. Free Hand at 7-9 1/2f & MG1SW-Eng, $1,361,940; and Count of Limonade (Ire) (Duke of Marmalade {Ire}), MGSP-Ire, $192,669. Lillie Langtry is also the dam of the brilliant MG1SW Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Hoity Toity is responsible for a yearling colt by Sea The Stars (Ire) and foaled a New Approach (Ire) filly this term. Lifetime Record: 4-2-0-0, $51,646.
