Labeled a 'TDN Rising Star' last term, Shadwell's Efaadah (Ire) (Dansili {GB}) gained the first pattern-race success she looked destined for in Saturday's G3 Prix de la Porte Maillot at ParisLongchamp. Restrained in fourth early, the 37-10 shot was delivered with a strong finish by Aurelien Lemaitre to gain the advantage approaching the furlong pole and beat Inns of Court (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) by 1 1/4 lengths, with the same margin back to Jimmy Two Times (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}) in third.
“She's a nice filly who proved to have a lot of quality last year and things hadn't gone too well early this season,” trainer Freddy Head said of the May 6 Listed Prix des Lilas winner and June 3 G2 Prix de Sandringham third. “It was a combination of the ground being too soft and the mile trip too far last time. A mile is her limit, as she has a lot of speed and she is certainly better at this seven furlongs. I imagine her next start will be in the [G1 Prix] Maurice de Gheest [at Deauville on Aug. 5].”
Pedigree Notes…
Efaadah is the second progeny to score in such company for the Listed Prix le Fabuleux winner and G3 Prix de Flore runner-up Albaraah (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}) after the same connections' G3 Prix de Cabourg winner and G1 Prix Morny runner-up Alrahma (GB) (Shamardal). Albaraah is a full-sister to the SW and GSP Thai Haku (Ire) from the family of the G1 Prix Lupin winner and GI Breeders' Cup Mile runner-up Johann Quatz (Fr) and the G1 Prix du Jockey Club-winning sire Hernando (Fr) (Niniski), as well as the G1 Hong Kong Cup hero Akeed Mofeed (GB) (Dubwai {Ire}). Albaraah's youngest progeny are an as-yet unraced 2-year-old colt by Shamardal named Mustaqqir (Ire) and a yearling colt by Teofilo (Ire).Click for the free Equineline.com catalogue-style pedigree.
