Daphnis Joy For Kitten's Joy Colt

Taareef | Scoop Dyga

Taareef, who was up and running with a debut win at Bordeaux Sept. 22, ended his juvenile campaign unbeaten after doubling his win tally on Deauville's synthetic surface Nov. 11. Runner-up to the subsequently dual Classic-placed Dicton (GB) (Lawman {Fr}) in the Apr. 20 G3 Prix de Fontainebleau going one mile at this track on seasonal return, he was under a length behind fourth-placed George Patton in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains back at Deauville last time May 15, and hunted down that reopposing stablemate here to register a career high. The chestnut was restrained to race fourth of the five runners after breaking on level terms. Nudged along rounding the home turn, he came under increased urging in the straight and kept on relentlessly in the closing stages to claim a first sophomore win in the dying strides. Taareef, who is half to the 2-year-old colt Stormy Forecast (Stormy Atlantic) and a yearling colt by Point of Entry, is the first stakes scorer for his winning stakes-placed dam Sacred Feather (Carson City), herself a daughter of GIII Linda Vista H. victress Marianna's Girl (Dewan), who in turn is the dam of six black-type performers including graded-stakes winners Marastani (Shahrastani) and Christine's Outlaw (Wild Again). Marianna's Girl is also a half-sister to MGSW Bold Style (Bold Commander), who hit the board in both the GI Whitney H. and GI Arkansas Derby.
