Dark Angel (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}–Midnight Angel {GB}, by Machiavellian), winner of the Oct. 5 G1 Middle Park S., has been retired sound from racing and will stand next season at Morristown Lattin Stud in Co. Kildare, according to Racing Post. The two-year-old also won the Sept. 22 G2 Mill Reef S. On the board in five of nine starts, Dark Angel won four times and earned $688,523. Explaining the decision to retire their Group 1-winning juvenile, co-owner Catherine Corbett said,ÜThe sale came through his trainer Barry Hills. He was approached by the stud.ÜWe–Barry, myself and fellow owner Chris Wright–discussed it, and myself and Chris were very happy with it all. He wouldn't have run in a Classic next year. It was felt he would be a six-furlong specialist and it's very hard for a three-year-old who has won a Group 1, so selling him wasn't really a wrench.”
