An attractive bay colt by Medaglia d'Oro was knocked down to John Ferguson, bidding for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, for $750,000 as the Fasig-Tipton Calder Sale neared its midpoint Tuesday afternoon. Consigned by Steve Venosa's SGV Thoroughbreds, agent, the son of Let's Toast (Miswaki) was purchased for $300,000 out of last year's Keeneland September sale and is a half-brother to MSW & GSP Kitty Knight (Capote). Team Valor, whose president Barry Irwin bred the Medaglia d'Oro colt in partnership, acquired Let's Toast for $33,000 at Keeneland January in 2007.
