Darley Strikes Again, This Time for $870,000 Hard Spun Colt

David Loder, acting on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation, was back in action at Fasig-Tipton Florida, winning a protracted bidding duel to land a Hard Spun colt for $870,000. Eddie Woods consigned the son of stakes winner Lucky Lavender Gal (Carson City), a full-sister to the dam of Barbaro (Dynaformer). The Grade I-placed mare has produced a pair of stakes horses, including SW Lavender Lass (Skip Trial). The colt was acquired by bloodstock agent Pete Bradley for $200,000 at last year's FTMOCT sale.
