Swift Lady took to the turf a month ago at Santa Anita and delivered the goods as the even-money chalk in her stakes bow Sunday evening. The bay checked in second on debut going 5 1/2 panels at Del Mar Sept. 7 and returned from a short layoff to annex a Los Alamitos maiden heat over that same trip. Swift Lady was last seen pulling off a 22-1 upset in her course-and-distance turf bow Jan. 15, and was backed down to heavy favoritism here. Quick off the blocks from stall eight, the Bob Baffert trainee settled just off the tempo set by Uptown Twirl (Twirling Candy) through a quarter-mile in :21.52. She seized command after a half in :43.91 and easily kicked away from her toiling rivals to win by open lengths. Nodiac (Ire) made up some late real estate to finish second.
