ACTRESS (IRE) (f, 2, Declaration of War–Nasty Storm {MGSW & MGISP-US, $754,157}, by Gulch) went postward as the 1-3 lock coming back from a May 1 debut second behind the TDN Rising Star performance of Alpha Centauri (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) at Naas, and raced in a handy fourth for most of this one. Easing closer after halfway, she was shaken up to challenge entering the final furlong and pushed out to score by 3/4 of a length from Yolo Star (Ire) (Society Rock {Ire}), becoming the second winner this week for her Ashford Stud-based freshman sire (by War Front). “Six furlongs would probably suit her even better, but this race was here for her and she's done it very nicely,” said winning rider Donnacha O'Brien. “I don't know if she'd run again [beforehand], but I suppose [Royal] Ascot would have to be on the cards now.” The $250,000 FTSAUG yearling is the second scorer out of MGSW GI Spinaway S. and GI Test S. placegetter Nasty Storm (Gulch), and is half to a yearling colt by Mastercraftsman (Ire), to the dam of dual Italian stakes scorer Aury Touch (Ity) (Pounced) and G2 Gran Criterium third Amyntas (Ity) (Desert Prince {Ire}), and to the dam of GIII Sweetest Chant S. third Born To Be Winner (Einstein {Brz}). Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $15,435. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
