Billionaire gaming executive Hajime Satomi went to ᆬ110 million (about $1,078,432) to acquire a brownᅠcolt by leading Japanese sire Deep Impactᅠat the Japan Racing Horse Association select sale on July 8. Consigned by Teruya Yoshida's Shadai Farm, the colt is the first foal from multiple French GIII winner and GI-placed La Boum (Ger) (Monsun (Ger). Satomi said the colt was recommended to him by retired trainer Yasuo Ikee, who sent Deep Impact out to win the Japanese Triple Crown and earn two Horse of the Year titles. “This is a staying family, so I expect him to be a Derby horse,” Satomi said.
