A colt from the first crop by two-time Japanese Horse of the Year Deep Impact (Jpn) (Sunday Silence) out of Biwa Heidi (Jpn) (Caerleon), herself champion two-year-old filly in Japan, brought a final bid of 220,000,000 yen ($2,108,302) to top the first of two foal sessions at the Japan Racing Horse Association's July Select Sale in Hokkaido Tuesday. Consigned by Northern Farm, he was purchased by Takaya Shimakawa. Biwa Heidi has already produced two stakes winners from her four foals to race. “Many of my friends and advisors suggested to me that this was the horse to buy today,” Shimakawa said. “The price was more than I thought–I thought I would not go further than 200,000,000 yen. But something pushed me.”
