Deep Impact Strikes Again at JRHA Sale

Takaya Shimakawa went to $952,380 (100,000,000 yen) to bring home the top lot at Wednesday's final session of the Japan Racing Horse Association's Select Foal Sale on Hokkaido. Shimakawa, who runs a natural foods company based in Sendai, was intent on taking home the son of champion Deep Impact (Jpn) (Sunday Silence). “When I visited Shadai Farm to inspect their consignment, I fell in love with this colt,” Shimakawa admitted. “And Teruya Yoshida of Shadai Farm strongly recommended this colt, saying this is one of the best Deep Impacts. I was determined to buy him.” Out of Mill Grain (GB) (Polish Precedent), the foal is a three-quarter brother to Group 1 winner Fine Grain (Jpn) (Fuji Kiseki {Jpn}).
