National Defense | Scoop Dyga

Criquette Head-Maarek is dreaming of Classic success next year with National Defense (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}). The Chantilly-based trainer will look at both the G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas and the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) for her Group 1-winning colt. The son of Invincible Spirit will go into his winter quarters following his convincing all-the-way win in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Chantilly on Sunday.

“He came out of the race very well. He's a nice horse,” she said. “I think we are going to rest him until next year. He's got nothing to prove. He's won his won his Group 1. There will be plenty of races for him at around a mile. We'll look at the English and French Guineas.”
