Delicacy Resumes Winning Thread

Delicacy (Aus) (Al Maher {Aus}), the 2014/15 Australian champion sophomore filly, returned to winning ways with a come-from-behind tally in Saturday's 2100-meter G2 C B Cox S. at Ascot as the 3-2 pick. The Grant Williams trainee rattled off six straight victories last campaign, four of them Classics, including the G1 South Australian Derby and G1 Australasian Oaks. However, she hadn't managed a win in her three previous appearances during the Australian spring, running third in the G2 Lee Steere S. at Ascot Nov. 7 in her first start back and reporting home with a sixth-place effort in the G1 Railway S. over 1600 meters Nov. 21. She found undefeated fellow Bob and Sandra Peters homebred Perfect Reflection (Aus) (More Than Ready) only a nostril too good in the G1 Kingston Town Classic S. extended a furlong Dec. 5.

“All her runs back have been real good,” commented regular pilot William Pike to Racenet.com. “She only got nosed out the other day and she's a very consistent horse. The pace was good early and I was happy with that then we were a bit steady and then we were crawling. That's where the race was won and lost for me. She was on the verge of wanting to go but I asked her to steady and she did–for me, I won the race down the back straight.”
