Rodrico (Aus) (High Chaparral {Ire}), runner-up in the G1 Queensland Derby for trainer Chris Waller June 11, has been sold to Hong Kong-based owner Johnsen Chen in a deal brokered by Magic Millions Sales Director David Chester. Rodrico boasts a similar profile to Werther (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}), who Chen also bought after finishing second in last year's Queensland Derby. Werther has won this year's Hong Kong Derby and G1 QEII Cup, and the owner will have similar ambitions for Rodrico.

“Johnson Chen is a great friend of Magic Millions and our initial purchase together has turned out a remarkable success, and we're hoping lightning can strike twice with Rodrico,” Chester said. “I thank leading bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster for his great assistance in completing the deal and I can't wait to see Rodrico continue his career for his new connections.”

Chen added, “Rodrico will head to champion trainer John Moore. He's done such a great job with Werther and we can hope for continued success into the future.”
