Lanfranco “Frankie” Dettori will be recognized as the 2019 Longines World's Best Jockey during the gala dinner of the Longines Hong Kong International Races Dec. 6 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Since the award's inception in 2014, Dettori, the sole three-time recipient, earned the honors in 2015 and 2018.

The award, based upon performances in the 100 highest-rated Group 1 and Grade 1 races as established for the year (Dec. 1, 2018 – Nov. 30, 2019) by the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings Committee, assigns 12 points for a win, 6 points for placing second, and 4 points for placing third.

Dettori finished the year with a total of 102 points, Zac Purton took second with 88 points, while Hugh Bowman–the 2017 Longines World's Best Jockey-rounded out the top three with 86 points.

This season, Dettori won eight of the world's Top 100 Group or Grade 1 races aboard seven different horses. His qualifying victories are the G1 Prince of Wales's S. (Crystal Ocean), G1 Gold Cup (Stradivarius), G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Coronet), G1 Coral-Eclipse (Enable), G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Enable), G1 Qatar Sussex S. (Too Darn Hot), G1 William Hill St Leger S. (Logician), and G1 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares S. (Star Catcher).
