Frankie Dettori will ride for Sheikh Joaan Al Thani after a retainer was signed at Chantilly on Sunday. One of the emerging forces on the international stage, the brother of the Emir of Qatar has snapped up the services of the ex-Godolphin jockey and a statement read, “Al Shaqab Racing owned by H.E Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani are pleased to officially announce that Frankie Dettori will be the resident jockey.” Not among the rides Dettori will enjoy will be on Toronado (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}), who was second in the G1 St James's Palace S. and will continue to be partnered by Richard Hughes.
