Two-year-old fillies mostly try two turns for the first time in Saturday's GIII Mazarine S. at Woodbine. Reade Baker trainee Just Be Kind (Sky Mesa) ran on late to just get up going five panels here Aug. 6, and belied 6-1 odds in the six-furlong Ontario Debutante S. Sept. 10 to wear down favored Let It Ride Mom (Into Mischief) before galloping out many lengths clear. Let It Ride Mom bested well-regarded Tapa Tapa Tapa (Tapit), as well as last-out Muskoka S. winner Spring Tempest (Spring At Last) and I'll Take the Cake (Nobiz Like Shobiz), on debut July 16. Let It Ride Mom will be joined by fellow Mark Casse trainee Gale Force (Giant's Causeway). The first timer is out of Casse-trained Canadian Horse of the Year Sealy Hill (Thunder Gulch). “I've entered her a bunch of times in maiden races going long and they haven't gone. So, now we're here running as a first time starter,” recent Canadian Hall of Fame inductee Casse told Woodbine's press office. “She's worked very well, but she's not real quick. She gets stronger as the works go on and then gallops out really strong. That's why we want to run her long first time out.” Casse unveiled 'TDN Rising Star' and subsequent Grade I winner My Conquestadory (Artie Schiller) to a successful 2-year-old unveiling here in the 2013 GII Summer S. Casse boasts a record five wins in the Mazarine, including a three-year streak from 2012 to 2014.
