+ABOU (f, 3, Distorted Humor–Polish Flower, by Danzig) ran to 4-5 favoritism to open her account at first asking. A half-sister to 2011 GIII Illinois Derby winner Joe Vann (Silver Deputy), $267,354, Abou jumped on terms and was well held by jockey Antonio Gallardo through an opening quarter mile in :23.20. She took some token pressure to her outside from Rebecca Rusch (Majestic Warrior), but had that one hard at work nearing the stretch. Second choice Cowgirls in Heaven (Gottcha Gold) tried to make a race of it entering the final furlong and a half, but Abou had all the answers and reported home 2 3/4 lengths to the good. Abou, bought back for $67,000 as a KEESEP yearling, fetched $155,000 at last year’s FTMMAY sale.Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $12,000. Click for the brisnet.com chart or VIDEO.
