Lane's End stallion Dixie Union (Dixieland Band–She's Tops, by Capote) was euthanized Wednesday morning at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital due to a a deteriorating neurologic problem, according to a press release. The 13-year-old stallion had stood his entire breeding career at Versailles, Kentucky, nursery. “We are extremely saddened by the loss of Dixie Union,” said Will Farish. “He was a beautiful horse and a terrific young sire. We want to express our gratitude to the dedicated team of experts who helped care for him, as well as to his owners who entrusted us with him. He will be buried in the Lane's End cemetery.” A multiple Grade I winner of $1,233,190, the dark bay has been represented by top-level winners Dixie Chatter and Hot Dixie Chick among his 33 black-type winners.
