Ramon Dominguez collected his third straight Eclipse Award as the nation’s leading jockey. He was the top earner of 2012, riding the winners of over $25 million. The 36-year-old Venezuela native won a record 68 races during the Saratoga meet last summer, besting the previous mark of 64 set by John Velazquez in 2004. He also became the first rider to win six races twice on a single card at the prestigious meeting. Dominguez was unable to attend the ceremony, as he continues to recover from a skull fracture he suffered in a Friday spill at Aqueduct.
