Long held in high regard by Andre Fabre, Godolphin's Cloth of Stars (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) takes to Chantilly on Sunday for the G2 Prix d'Harcourt which serves as the latest test of his true mettle. Just missing the mark at the highest level last term, he reappeared from a lengthy absence since finishing third in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris to win the G3 Prix Exbury over this trip at Saint-Cloud Mar. 19. “Cloth of Stars was very impressive in the Prix Exbury and came out the race very well,” Godolphin's Lisa-Jane Graffard said of the bay, who if successful would be providing his trainer with a 10th edition. “This race is the natural next step. He is stepping back up in class and this will be a tougher race, but he is in very good form at the moment.” Fair Salinia Ltd's One Foot In Heaven (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) looks likely to provide the sternest opposition on the basis of his success in the 12-furlong G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris here in October and subsequent third in the G1 Hong Kong Vase. He has a three-pound penalty to shoulder against some unexposed types including Cloth of Stars's stablemate Maniaco (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), the Wertheimer homebred who captured the Listed Prix Vulcain over 12 1/2 furlongs at Deauville in October.
