This time of year many trainers are beginning to turn their attentions towards selecting and preparing horses for international flat targets, especially the Dubai Carnival and Godolphin's Blue Point (Ire) (Shamardal) is one who has been earmarked for such a campaign. The Charlie Appleby trained 'TDN Rising Star' will not run in Europe again this year and will be wintered in Dubai with the G1 Al Quoz Sprint on his agenda as a possible big race target in early 2018. A winner of the G3 John Guest Bengough S. at Ascot earlier this month Blue Point was taken out of the G1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint S. at the weekend. “Godophin have Harry Angel in Saturday's race, and it's no good having him and Blue Point banging their heads together at this stage,” Charlie Appleby said. Although Blue Point has a victory over Harry Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) to his credit when the pair met in the G3 Merriebelle Stable Pavilion S. at Ascot in May, the Clive Cox trained colt turned around that form comprehensively in the G1 32Red Sprint S. at Haydock last month.
