Sent about his business inside the final quarter mile, the 11-8 favourite stayed on powerfully to secure a five-length success from Proschema (Ire) (Declaration of War). There were no fireworks from Khalid Abdullah's newomer Midi (GB) (Frankel {GB}), with the son of Midday (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) languishing in rear throughout and finishing a disappointing 13th. Winning trainer Charlie Appleby said, “He was a bit keen and that is why we put the hood on him. We wanted him to do what he does in the morning and go out there and lead them a merry gallop. We knew he had come forward from Doncaster and we will potentially put him away for the year.” Out of the 2006 G1 1000 Guineas heroine Nightime, the winner who was at the time of his purchase the highest-priced colt foal sold at public auction in Ireland is therefore a half-brother to this year's GI Man o'War S. heroine Zhukova (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}). That Dermot Weld-trained luminary is also the winner of the G3 Kilternan S. and G3 Blue Wind S., Hwt. Older Mare-Ire at 9 1/2-11f, GISW-US & MGSW-Ire, $489,594. Nightime also produced the listed-placed Sleeping Beauty (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}) who was responsible for the recent GIII With Anticipation S. runner-up Irish Territory (Ire) (Declaration of War), and the 3-year-old TDN Rising Star Midnight Fair (Ire) (Raven's Pass).
