LAIETH (GB) (c, 2, Dubawi {Ire}–First City {GB} {GSW-UAE & G1SP-Eng, $388,814}, by Diktat {GB}), a 550,000gns TAOCT yearling, had been fourth on his racecourse bow behind the impressive winner Glendevon (Scat Daddy) over seven furlongs on Kempton's Polytrack Oct. 11, was keen early under restraint as Pat Cosgrave sought a lead. Quickly settling to track the pace in second, the 8-15 favourite kicked clear from the two pole as soon as he was given the command and was eased down late to register an authoritative 2 1/4-length success from Escalator (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}). Laieth is the first runner for First City, who was third in the G1 Falmouth S. and G2 Windsor Forest S. and successful in the G2 Cape Verdi. A half-sister to last year's G2 Royal Lodge S. third Sea Fox (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) who descends from the GII All Along S. scorer Marble Maiden (GB) (Lead On Time), she is connected to another star Dubawi performer in the GI Northern Dancer Turf S. winner Sheikhzayedroad (GB) who also captured last year's G2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup and G2 Doncaster Cup. First City's yearling is a colt by New Approach (Ire). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $4,163. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
