Two projected starters for the GII Rebel S. were on the Oaklawn worktab Saturday morning in advance of the Mar. 19 race. Suddenbreakingnews (Mineshaft) and American Dubai (E Dubai), the first and third finishers in the GIII Southwest S. Mar. 15, breezed five furlongs within minutes of each other immediately following the renovation break. Both horses were credited with the final time of 1:00.60. “We asked him to do a little bit more and he was willing,” trainer Donnie K. Von Hemel said of Suddenbreakingnews. “Louie [Quinonez] said he stretched out nicely down the lane and still had some in the tank.”
