Eddie Read Top Three Rematch in Del Mar H.

The top three finishers from the July 22 GII Eddie Read S., Hunt (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), Ashleyluvssugar (Game Plan) and Mr. Roary (Scat Daddy), will face off once again Saturday in the GII Del Mar H., a “Win and You're In” event for the GI Breeders' Cup Turf. Hunt was scoring his first victory in over a year in the Eddie Read, having finished off the board in the one-mile GIII American S. July 4.

Ashleyluvssugar is the defending champion in this year, winning last year's renewal by a nose. Victor of the California Cup Turf Classic earlier this term, he was third behind next out GII Dixiana Elkhorn S. winner Itsinthepost (Fr) (American Post {GB}) in the GII San Luis Rey S. Mar. 25 and won the GII Charles Whittingham S. May 28 prior to his Eddie Read effort.

Also of interest is Inordinate (Harlan's Holiday), a former Juddmonte/Chad Brown runner purchased by these connections for $65,000 at last term's Keeneland November sale. Runner-up in his debut for Richard Baltas in a Santa Anita optional claimer Feb. 25, the bay could only manage seventh in the San Luis Rey, but rebounded to win the GIII San Juan Capistrano S. at Santa Anita Apr. 22.
