Egan Suspended at Lingfield

Jockey John Egan was in hot water with the stewards at Lingfield after being found guilty of failing to ride out Athletic (GB) (Doyen {Ire}) in the sunbets.co.uk H.

The David Evans-trained 8-year-old was the 7-2 second-favourite for the one-mile contest and passed the post third behind the impressive Polymnia (GB) (Poet's Voice {GB}) (14-1).

While clearly no match for the comfortable winner, Athletic was beaten just a head for second by Lucky Louie (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) and the stewards felt Egan's mount would have finished second had the rider not stopped riding shortly before the winning post.

Egan was suspended for 10 days (Jan. 30 to Feb. 4 and Feb. 6 to Feb. 9 inclusive).
