Gordon Elliott is best known as a jumps trainer though he has picked up some prestigious flat prizes in his career including an Ebor H. at York with Dirar (Ire) (King's Best) back in 2010. Last year the Meath based trainer sent out his first Royal Ascot winner when Commissioned (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}) won the final race of the meeting the Queen Alexandra S. and Elliott is hoping to be represented by the juvenile Beckford (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}) at this year's event. The €55,000 Goffs Orby yearling purchase was Elliott's first 2-year-old winner when making a winning debut at The Curragh May 13 and outlining future targets the trainer said, “He worked the other morning and he's in very good form. I'd say he's definitely improved. He'll either go to Royal Ascot or go to the [G2] Railway Stakes in the Curragh the week after.” Beckford carried the colours of Nick Bradley Racing at The Curragh but has since been purchased by Maurice Regan's Newtown Anner Stud and will remain with Elliott. “It's good to get nice owners like Newtown Anner Stud into the yard. He looks a nice horse and the form of his race has worked out well. We're looking forward to running him and hopefully he can be lucky for his new connections,” added Elliott who unleashed another nice juvenile on Sunday when Monkeylou (Ire) (Dream Ahead) justified strong market support to win on debut at Listowel.
