Elusive Sparkle, Kin to Street Sense, Makes $1.2m at KEENOV

Elusive Sparkle (m, 5, Elusive Quality–Bedazzle, by Dixieland Band), the year-younger half-sister to 2007 GI Kentucky Derby hero Street Sense, realized a bid of $1.2 million from Paul Fudge's Waratah Thoroughbreds Pty, as the Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale continued Tuesday in Lexington. Mill Ridge Sales, agent, consigned the five-year-old mare, who is pregnant to Street Cry (Ire), also the sire of Street Sense, on an early cover. Racing in the colors of her breeder, James Tafel, Elusive Sparkle won twice from her 18 career starts, including a meaningful victory in the 2009 Prairie Rose S. in Iowa. She was placed on seven other occasions and was retired to stud with earnings of $112,028.
