Les Tinkler saw off challenges from Coolmore Stud and Dean Watt to secure the top-priced lot at Wednesday's final select session of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast. Tinkler, the father of Patinack Farm owner Nathan Tinkler, signed the ticket at A$335,000 for a daughter of Encosta de Lago (Aus) out of Top of the Market (Aus) (Danzero) for his Serene Lodge. The yearling is closely related to multiple Group 1 winner Mnemosyne (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}). She was consigned by Southern Cross Breeders, the association of Thoroughbred nurseries Ashleigh, Byerley and Riversdale. “She was our pick of the sale,” Tinkler said. “She's a lovely filly, really correct and has a great pedigree.”
