English Channel (Smart Strike–Belva, by Theatrical {Ire}), retired to Hurricane Hall after his victory in last Saturdayís GI Breedersí Cup Turf, will stand his initial season at stud for a fee of $25,000, it was announced yesterday. ìWe plan to do some extraordinary things with English Channel from a bonus and incentive standpoint,î said Hurricane Hallís Ben Walden Jr. ìThere will be an energetic commitment put forth toward the development of this horse. We hope to have English Channel arrive to the farm by the first of next week and for the sales.î A six-time Grade I winner, English Channel will not be syndicated and will stand as property of Brad Kelley and Jim Scatuorchio. English Channel raced in Scatuorchioís colors while trained by Todd Pletcher.
