The three-year-old Etched (Forestry), impressive winner of last October's GIII Nashua S. at Aqueduct, lost his unbeaten status when a disappointing fourth in Thursday's G3 UAE Guineas S. under the lights at Nad Al Sheba. The race was won by the South American four-year-old Honour Devil (Arg) (Honour and Glory), who improved to three-for-three with a gutsy victory over Royal Vintage (SAf) (Rich Man's Gold), whom he defeated by a long neck. Etched, a Sheikh Mohammed homebred, began his career wearing the Darley Stable's maroon silks, but was moved under the Godolphin banner after wintering in Dubai at trainer Saeed bin Suroor's barn. Away from post four, Etched settled into a good stalking position behind the front rank, angled out for room in upper stretch, but failed to muster a sufficient rally and came home fourth.
