DEEP INSIDE (FR) (f, 2, Redoute's Choice {Aus}–Well Spoken {Ire}, by Sadler's Wells), who was a neck second in a firsters' heat going 5 1/2 furlongs at Chantilly last time June 1, broke well and raced a shade keenly in third through the early fractions of this one. Taking the opportunity of an open seam along the fence at the quarter-mile marker, the well backed 17-10 favourite was ridden to the front approaching the final eighth and kept on strongly under a drive to hold the late lunge of Elegante Bere (Fr) (Peer Gynt {Jpn}) by a head. She becomes a groundbreaking winner from the first European crop of her Australian champion sire (by Danehill). Deep Inside is kin to last term's Listed Prix de Calonne runner-up Spoken to Me (Ire) (Dylan Thomas {Ire}) and MGSW G1 Pretty Polly S. third Chrysanthemum (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), who in turn is the dam of Frankel's first foal-cum-runner-cum-winner Cunco (Ire). Her second dam, G3 Princess Margaret S. victress Saintly Speech (Southern Halo), is out of MSW Irish highweight Eloquent Minister (Deputy Minister) and is thus a half-sister to G3 Prix du Calvados winner Woodland Melody (Woodman) and Japanese stakes-winning sire Maruka Diesis (Diesis {GB}).
