It's difficult to predict who will be the second choice in the GI Kentucky Derby behind Nyquist (Uncle Mo), but Exaggerator has as good a case as anyone. He had been a bit of a disappointment coming into the GI Santa Anita Derby, but responded on that day with the kind of explosive effort that always seemed to be within his capabilities. It may have been the best race by a 3-year-old so far this year. Did he move up in the slop that day? Will he “bounce” off such a big effort? Having already finished behind Nyquist three times, can he beat that horse? Those are questions he'll have to answer Derby Day.
